One man out of every six will deal with a prostate cancer diagnosis in his lifetime. Laughing With Cancer was written to chronicle a very personal journey in a compelling hilarious memoir. It is as refreshingly frank and informative as it is hysterical. Written from a unique perspective, Ian Mair puts the reader in his shoes and invites them to experience the journey with him. Laughing With Cancer is a must read for any man facing prostate cancer, as well as his family, friends, and anyone else who wants to be entertained, while learning about a timely subject too often couched in strict medical terms.

A medieval Alchemist uses the teachings of those who have gone before him to create life, transmute mercury to gold and produce the elixir of life. Dr.Trace Lanford, a brilliant professor at UCSD, recovers an ancient alchemical text from the ocean floor and discovers lost lessons from it that apply in ways unimagined today. His beautiful young graduate student, caught in the midst of a political terror plot, struggles to survive and is subsequently changed forever.
Winner of 2011 National Novel Writer's Month Competition.
I had just been diagnosed with prostate cancer. I could have been sad, devastated or angry, but how much fun is there in that? While going through testing and trying to figure out how I should react, funny happened. I didn’t mean for it to happen, it just did. I started to see a funny side to prostate cancer right from diagnosis, through biopsy and surgery. Try as I might, I couldn’t figure out how to be somber. I laughed with doctors and their PAs, technicians running tests, nurses and office staff. Even when it recurred after three years requiring radiation treatment, I regarded it as an opportunity for a few more laughs. I wasn’t disappointed. I figure, life is what you make it, so you might as well make it fun. I wrote Laughing With Cancer to chronicle my adventure. If it helps allay the fear of others facing prostate cancer, that is my intent. But it should also be read by friends, family, co-workers or anyone who wants insight to decisions being faced by prostate cancer patients.

Kylie Spenser and Sam Hall were graduate students at Princeton. Between research grants, they decided to get married and take a working honeymoon in Mexico. They hoped to return with rare botanical and biological specimens for the next phase of their study. What they got was not what they deserved and a whole lot more than either had bargained for. What they stumbled onto was Death by Mexico.

Neville Turner struggles to make it through his life and wonders whether it is even worth the fight. Confronting demons, real and imagined, he seeks to understand the lessons of life as he holds fast to his dreams. He is living through political insanity with an astounding decay of personal freedom and is dismayed at the lack of public outrage. Straining to hear a voice of reason, he is left with only echoes of what once was and a vaguely hollow form of what he is certain could be again.
